We would like to share with you a philosophy; "The Ten Beliefs Of Crime Prevention." These are action principles we believe in,  and hope all of our clients and prospects will support as we work with them.

THE TEN BELIEFS OF CRIME PREVENTION

1. Crime prevention is everyone's business - In order for effective crime prevention to take place, the members of the community must believe it is their responsibility to be involved. This involvement includes taking measures in their own home, personal security and the willingness to alert law enforcement and other members of the community to criminal/suspicious activity.

2. Crime prevention is more than security - Crime prevention involves more than just securing your residence. Crime prevention is a way of thinking. In order to effectively prevent crime individuals need to become involved as another set of eyes for law enforcement.

3. Crime prevention is a responsibility of all levels of government - Effective crime prevention is a combination of individuals, organized neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement and government. Each has an important role in the fight against crime.

4. Crime prevention is linked with solving social problems - An essential requirement of crime prevention is a willingness to get involved. Whenever communities combined the talents of many of its citizens it allows the opportunity for examining and solving many root causes of crime. Many social problems lead to crime and by addressing those social problems communities are able to stop crime before it occurs.

5. Crime prevention is cost effective - A community plagued with crime is forced to spend more money just in an attempt to address the symptoms of crime instead of finding a cure. The costs include increased number of police personnel, higher insurance premiums and expensive home security devices.

6. Crime prevention requires a central position in law enforcement - Law enforcement agencies exist to protect the public. With this in mind, law enforcement agencies must have crime prevention as a key part of their strategy in protecting the public.

7. Crime prevention requires cooperation by all elements of a community - Effective crime prevention requires cooperation and involvement. When a neighborhood does not cooperate with crime prevention then basically it does not exist in that area. There must be effective cooperation between all aspects of the community. If a group of residents decide not to get involved then law enforcement will not be alerted to potential criminal activity until after it occurs and sometimes not even then.

.
8. Crime prevention requires education, continual testing and improvement - It is important to remember that criminals are continually looking for better ways to victimize society. Knowing this common sense demands that crime prevention techniques must be re-examined and improved in order to stay ahead of the criminal element.

9. Crime prevention requires tailoring to local needs and concerns - When a community decides to become actively involved in crime prevention it can draw upon the techniques and strategies used by other communities. It is important to realize that a strategy that worked for one community may not be suited for the other. An example of this would be aspects of crime prevention in urban areas as opposed to crime prevention in rural areas.

10. Crime prevention improves the quality of life for every community and its residents - By bringing the community together in a joint effort to fight crime the community becomes closer, barriers are broken and communication improves. When crime is prevented people are more likely to get out more and patronize local businesses. Crime prevention allows an additional opportunity to law enforcement to interact with the citizens thus helping to break down barriers that may exist.

 Services

RealtorSafe(c)

RealtorSafe(c) is now available.  It is designed to train real estate brokers, insurance agents, adjusters, property inspectors, and others, on staying safe when working with clients. This program is not a sales pitch for self defense products.  It is a concentrated 2 hour session on basic crime prevention and safety measures for the specialties mentioned above.  We do require a minimum of 10 persons per session.  Cost for the session is $45 per person.  This covers all handouts, expenses, and the instructor's time.  The presentations will be made on site at the client's office,  or if this is not possible, a site of MetroStar 's choosing.

Crime Analysis for Individual Neighborhoods

We have  clients and community and business leaders inquiring if we could do independent Crime Analysis for their neighborhoods or organizations.  We do this, with the understanding that the analysis we provide depends on the data accuracy presentation of data by the local law enforcement agency.  This program is highly labor intensive, and services are billed according to work requested.  We do remind our clients that many police departments now subscribe to public websites showing the statistics.  The issue we have is that there is no analysis done that would help the client work with Crime Watch groups or their local law enforcement agency. Please call us if you are interested in this service, and we can advise you on the direction that can be taken by your community.

Crime Prevention for Community Leaders

We have been approached by clients and community and business leaders inquiring if we could provide some type of in-depth crime prevention training.  We present our Crime Prevention for Community Leaders training.  This program is basically similar to that in the law enforcement setting. This program  offers training in all of the major areas of crime prevention.  Students will also learn how to perform a security survey, and will perform an actual survey.   The training is divided into Basic and Advanced Sections.  We will need to have a minimum of 25 registrants.  Each section takes a full 40 hours to complete. and  registrants must be able to attend for the full 40 hours of the program.  Cost for each session will be $165 per person.  This will include all training, expenses, and  student manuals and other handouts.

Crime Prevention Academy

For the last 25 years, law enforcement agencies have conducted Citizen Police Academies.  These programs give citizens an insight into police operations.  We reviewed several CPA programs and noticed something that we were unaware of;  the lack of detailed training in Crime Prevention and the functions associated with the concept. Consequently,  we  introduced the Crime Prevention Academy Program.  This program is broken into an 8 week, 2 hours per night schedule.  Each session runs 7 to 9 PM.   Instructors are all trained Crime Prevention consultants.  The charge for the program will be $45.00 per student and will include all handouts and snacks.  Please call and request an application for the program.  Our phone is 817-993-9379.  You may also e-mail us from the contact section of our website.  Each class is limited to 25 participants.

Reference Book

We are completing and introducing a reference book entitled "Crime Prevention for Community Leaders."  The book is a compilation of information from our programs and other sources.  Announcement of  availability will be made on our website, and through notification to our existing clients.

Reference Resource Searches

Recently, we have seen an increase in requests to research items for clients, subscribers, and others.  Such work requires a very labor intensive operation to develop the information.  Consequently, members of our staff have recommended that we offer, on a regular basis, Reference Research upon request.  The research work will be primarily in the area of Public Safety Issues.  Fees for this service are  $55.00/hour, or depending on the information requested, we may offer the client a base fee, with certain hourly and expense charges over and above the base quote.  For information, call our offices at 817-993-9379 .

Crime Analysis for Crime Prevention Officers

This program is offered only to Law Enforcement Officers involved in Crime Prevention. It will give the officers insight into how they can use the concepts of Crime Analysis to enhance their Crime Prevention programs.  This is a two hour program and limited to 25 participants.

Crime Prevention Marketing for Homeowner's Associations

This program is offered to Law Enforcement Officers and non-sworn agency personnel.  The program will assist Crime Prevention Specialists in developing quality Crime Prevention programs for local Homeowner's associations.  This is a two hour program and limited to 25 participants, and is limited to Law Enforcement (both sworn and non sworn) Crime Prevention Specialists, and Neighborhood Police Officers only.

Community Briefings

Over the last year, we have presented many complimentary briefings to different community groups and to businesses who want to share Public Safety with clients and customers. We also noticed that many Crime Watch Groups have invited us to present a program. The subjects vary and the briefings usually last about 45 minutes.  Some of the topics we present include Holiday Safety, Phishing--and how to recognize it when you see it, Basic Crime Prevention Concepts, and several others.  Some of our invitations have come from local businesses, and we are pleased to be able to assist them.
